Started off as the gathering place for my ITP class assignments for "Social Activism using Mobile Technology." Now it's the chronicles of building/writing/defending my thesis. * fingers crossed *

Skinning WP
Prof Freitas suggested using WordPress for it's easy database building capabilities and mobile skins. So, I've set-up WordPress at QWhere.org, and have installed WP Mobile Detector and associated themes. Currently, I've only populated the database with a few Youth-related posts, just to see if I can get the mobile interface to work. Building out the full database will take a LONG time. That's what the thesis is for. ;-) Right now, I'm frustratedly trying to get my custom menu of categories to show up in the body of my index page. IT looks like site menu when visited by a laptop, but it disappears when viewed by a mbile device, with only a down arrow to click on to retrieve the categories. Clearly, I need a crash course in WordPress, and PHP. I need a PHP script to make my texting shortcode call and retrieve the WP data. So, much work has been done, much is still needed, and I don't have much in the way of working demo to show for it. Off to hack away some more...
